INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE MANUAL FOR

VITRIFIED TANKS AND INTERACUMULATORS

1.-

Generalities

This document is intended for the installer and the end

user. Therefore, after commissioning of the installation, it

is necessary to ensure that this manual is delivered to the

end user or the person responsible for managing the

installation.

The products that are the object of this document have

been manufactured according to the 2014/68 / CE

directive relative to the pressure devices in accordance

with the fluid contained in them and the conditions of use

contemplated for their use.

2.-

Instalation and maintenance

The tanâ must alïays be sheltered from atmospheric

agents, on a solid base, verifying before installation that

there is sufficient space for the extraction of anodes,

resistances, instrumentation and to facilitate the opening

of the manhole.

It must be ensured that the room intended to contain the

tank is provided with an access to the exterior with the

appropriate dimensions to facilitate the passage of the

apparatus without the need to carry out any demolition

work. The guarantee does not cover the occasional costs

derived from the breach of this point.

It must also be ensured that the local referral is equipped

with a drainage system appropriate to the volume of the

accumulator and other possible devices. The guarantee

does not cover the occasional costs derived from the

breach of this point.

The inlet connection of the domestic cold water to the

domestic water network must be made by means of a

hydraulic safety group that includes at least a shut-off

tap, a check valve, a check valve control device, a

control device hydraulic load interruption, all accessories

necessary to use the accumulator efficiently and safely.

If the pressure of the domestic water supply system

could exceed the design pressure value of the tank, a

pressure reducing valve should be installed as far as

possible from the same tank. In order to prevent

pressure shocks that damage the tank, it is always

necessary to install an expansion vessel.

For tanks with water

-fed primary at a temperature of less

than 100 ºC, the expansion system must consist of an

exhaust valve, of counterïeight or spring type, ïith an

outlet diameter (mm) not less than (V / 5) 1 / 2, ïhere V is

the volume (lts) of the tanâ, ïith a minimum of 15 mm. The

valve must be set at a pressure not higher than the

design pressure. In addition to the exhaust valve, it is

advisable, to avoid continuous openings, to install an

expansion vessel of the closed membrane type.

In order for the product to have effective protection

against electrochemical corrosion and to fulfill the

guarantee, it is necessary to always provide cathodic

protection for each material. HTW provides as standard in

its internally vitrified tanks magnesium anodes that must

be replaced periodically. The correct installation of the

tanks (according to the instructions provided with the

material), as well as proper maintenance, is essential to

guarantee the useful life of the tank. To avoid eventual

galvanic wandering currents, it is essential to connect the

tank to an earth connection. Failure to comply with these

rules invalidates the guarantee offered by HTW.

The progressive consumption of the magnesium anode

can vary depending on the nature of the water and the

conditions of use. It is necessary to program the periodic

replacement of the magnesium anode, with a maximum

periodicity of 18 months.

The minimum periodicity for cleaning the accumulator is

one year, according to RD 865/2003 for the prevention

and control of legionellosis. Cleaning and maintenance is

essential to guarantee the life of the accumulator.

Maintenance and cleaning tasks must be recorded in the

maintenance log, in accordance with article 8 of RD

865/2003. If disinfection is necessary, it may be done by

thermal or chemical means, complying with Annex 3 of

the aforementioned Royal Decree.
