Sideloading Quick Start Guide 

 

Getting started 
This Quick Start Guide outlines the steps to transfer music from your PC to your phone 

using two methods:   

 

Drag & Drop (via phone or card reader) 

 

Windows Media Player (WMP) 

 
What you’ll need 

 

USB cable 

 

Playback file format on your phone must be unprotected Advanced Audio Coding 

(AAC), MP3 or Windows Media Audio (WMA) files 

 

SD card inserted in your phone (or card reader) 

 

For Drag & Drop 

o

 

Folder browser on your computer, i.e., Windows Explorer 

 

For WMP Sync 

o

 

Windows XP or Vista 

o

 

Windows Media Player version 10 or higher 

 
Before you begin 

 

When you insert the SD card into your phone, it automatically creates a MUSIC 
folder. 

 

WMP does not support playback or transfer for AAC format music, such as iTunes. 

 

Playlists are not automatically transferred. 

 

For Windows XP, the USB mass storage device drivers are automatically installed 
the first time you connect. 

 

Music purchased from Sprint Music Store on your phone (.koz files) cannot be 
played on your PC. 

 

You can also access device modes by choosing Home, Tools, “0 Transfer Music” or “8 

Mass Storage.”  

 

While in transfer or storage mode, you will not be able to make or receive calls.

Connect 

 

Connect your phone to the PC or connect a card reader to the PC. 

 

The screen will display three options: 

o

 

Transfer music 

o

 

Mass storage 

o

 

Modem 

 

Select Transfer Music or Mass Storage.
