About this task
WARNING:
To reduce the risk of personal injury from hot surfaces, allow the drives and the internal system
components to cool before touching them.
CAUTION:
In systems that use external data storage, be sure that the server is the first unit to be powered down
and the last to be powered back up. Taking this precaution ensures that the system does not
erroneously mark the drives as failed when the server is powered up.
CAUTION:
To prevent damage to electrical components, take the appropriate anti-static precautions before
beginning any installation, removal, or replacement procedure. Improper grounding can cause
electrostatic discharge.
Procedure

Remove all power:
a.
Disconnect each power cord from the power source.

Disconnect each power cord from the server.

Do one of the following:

Extend the server from the rack
•
Remove the server from the rack

If necessary for easier access to the cache module connector and/or removal of an air scoop, remove the
storage controller from the PCI riser cage or from the system board.
