A Maintenance and Support Connectivity
Local monitoring and maintenance of the NS2100 system occurs over the dedicated service
LAN. The dedicated service LAN provides connectivity between the system console and the
maintenance infrastructure in the system hardware.
Remote support is provided in conjunction with OSM, which runs on the system console and in
communicates with the chosen remote access solution. HPE Insight Remote Support Advanced
is now qualified for HPE Integrity NonStop NS-Series servers. Insight Remote Support Advanced
is the go-forward remote support solution for NonStop systems, replacing the OSM Notification
Director in both modem-based and HPE Instant Support Enterprise Edition (ISEE) remote support
solutions. For more information on Insight Remote Support Advanced, see
Insight Remote Support
Advanced for NonStop
in the Service Information collection of NTL.
Only components specified by Hewlett Packard Enterprise can be connected to the dedicated
LAN. No other access to the LAN is permitted.
The dedicated service LAN uses a ProCurve Ethernet switches for connectivity between the VIO
enclosures, IP or Telco CLIMs, and the system consoles.
A maximum of eight systems can be connected to a dedicated service LAN.
An important part of the system maintenance architecture, the system console is a Windows
Server approved by Hewlett Packard Enterprise to run maintenance and diagnostic software for
NS2100 systems. Through the system console, you can:
•
Monitor system operations between and perform maintenance operations on systems using
the HPE NonStop Open System Management (OSM) interface.
•
Install and use other console software for managing NonStop systems, such as HPE Systems
Insight Manager (SIM) and SIM plug-in products. These plug-ins include Insight Remote
Support Advanced, which replaces the OSM Notification Director for remote support services
including dial-outs, and NonStop Software Essentials, which replaces the DSM/SCM client
for management of NonStop system software.
•
View manuals and service procedures on the DVD that accompanies your new server or
RVU.
•
Run HPE NonStop Tandem Advanced Command Language (TACL) sessions using
terminal-emulation software.
•
Make remote requests to and receive responses from a system using remote operation
software.
Dedicated Service LAN
An NS2100 system requires a dedicated service LAN for system maintenance through OSM.
Only components specified by Hewlett Packard Enterprise can be connected to a dedicated LAN.
No other access to the LAN is permitted.
