If multiple data drives coexist in the same pool, HP recommends not using data drives that
are same types and different capacity sizes.
Internal volume: From 8 GB to 2.9 TB
Volume capacity
External volume: From 8 GB to 4 TB
The LDEV format operation can be performed on pool-VOLs if one of these conditions is satisfied:
LDEV format
•
The THP V-VOL defined for the pool does not exist.
•
All THP V-VOLs defined for the pool are blocked.
You cannot specify a volume with a path definition as a pool-VOL.
Path definition

THP V-VOL (V-VOL)
Volume type
The LDEV number is handled in the same way as for normal volumes.
OPEN-V
Emulation type
Up to 63,232 per pool. Any number of available THP V-VOLs can be associated with a pool.
Maximum number of
THP V-VOLs
Up to 63,232 volumes per system. If external volumes and V-VOLs are used, the total number
of external volumes and V-VOLs must be 63,232 or less.
Volume capacity from 46.87 MB to 59.9 TB per volume.
Volume capacity
•
TB: 0.01 to 59.99
•
GB: 0.04 to 61,439.99
•
MB: 46.87 to 62,914,556.25
•
Blocks: 96,000 to 128,849,011,200
However, if you use the volume as a P-VOL or S-VOL of Business Copy, Auto LUN, Continuous
Access Synchronous, Continuous Access Journal, or High Availability the volume capacity must
be 4 TB or less.
Total maximum volume capacity of 12.3 PB per storage system.
11.1 PB per system.
Available.

LDEV format
System Option Mode 867 OFF
When you perform the format operation on a THP V-VOL, the storage system releases the
allocated page area in the THP V-VOL. The quick format cannot be performed.
NOTE:
