Important Information About
ENERGY STAR
HP computers marked with the ENERGY STAR
®
Logo are
compliant with the applicable U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) ENERGY STAR specifications for computers. The
EPA ENERGY STAR Logo does not imply endorsement by the
EPA. As an ENERGY STAR Partner,
Hewlett-Packard Company has
determined the products marked with
the ENERGY STAR Logo are ENERGY
STAR qualified as per the applicable
ENERGY STAR guidelines for energy
efficiency. The following logo will
appear on all ENERGY STAR qualified
computers:
The ENERGY STAR Computers Program was created by the EPA
to promote energy efficiency and reduce air pollution through
more energy-efficient equipment in homes, offices, and
factories. One way products achieve this is by reducing power
consumption when not being used through the Microsoft
Windows
®
Power Management feature.
The Power Management feature allows the computer to enter
into a low-power or “sleep” mode after a period of user
inactivity. When used with an external ENERGY STAR
compliant monitor, this feature will also support similar power
management features of the monitor. To take advantage of this
energy savings:
•
The Power Management feature has been preset to power
down the computer after 20 minutes of user inactivity.
•
The Power Management feature has been preset to power
down the monitor after 15 minutes of user inactivity.
Both the computer and monitor can be woken from “sleep”
mode through user interaction with any of the computer’s input
devices (ex: mouse, keyboard, etc). When configured with
Wake On LAN (WOL) enabled, the computer can also be
awoken by a network signal.
More information on the energy and financial savings potential
of the Power Management Feature can be found at the EPA’s
ENERGY STAR Power Management Web site:

More information on the ENERGY STAR program and its
environmental benefits are available by visiting the EPA’s
ENERGY STAR Web site address:

CAUTION: Using the Energy Save Monitor feature
with non-ENERGY STAR compliant monitors may
cause video distortion when the Energy Save
timeout occurs.
Canada Department of Communications
(DOC) Notice
Telephone Connection
The Canada Department of Communications label identifies
certified equipment. This certification means that the equipment
meets certain telecommunications network protective,
operational, and safety requirements. The department does
not guarantee the equipment will operate to the user’s
satisfaction.
Before installing this equipment, the user should ensure it is
permissible to connect it to the facilities of the local
communications company. The equipment must be installed
using an acceptable method of connection. In some cases, the
company’s inside wiring associated with a single line individual
service may be extended by means of a certified connector
assembly (telephone extension cord). The customer should be
aware that compliance with the above conditions may not
prevent degradation of service in some situations.
Repairs to certified equipment should be made by an
authorized Canadian maintenance facility designated by the
supplier. Any repairs or alterations made by the user to this
equipment, or equipment malfunctions, may give the
telecommunications company cause to request that the user
disconnect the equipment.
Users should ensure, for their own protection, that the electrical
ground connections of the power utility, telephone lines, and
internal metallic water pipe systems, if present, are connected
together. This precaution may be particularly important in rural
areas.
WARNING: Users should not attempt to make
such connections themselves, but should contact
the appropriate electrical inspection authority or
electrician, as appropriate.
WARNING: The Load Number .9 assigned to each
terminal device denotes the percentage of the
total load to be connected to a telephone loop;
this is used by the device to prevent overloading.
The termination on a loop may consist of any
combination of devices, subject only to the
requirement that the sum of the Load Numbers
does not exceed 100.
