The AlphaServer
SC20 system is a
distributed memory, parallel
supercomputer that scales up to 256
Alpha 21264 (EV68) processors to
deliver incredible sustained
performance for large-scale
applications. It is based on 2-processor
AlphaServer DS20L nodes and an ultra-
low-latency, high-bandwidth
interconnect with an integrated software
package for management and
application development.
AlphaServer SC20 systems consist of:
•
Compute Building Blocks (CBBs)
•
Interconnect Building Blocks (IBBs)
•
Management Building Blocks (MBB)
•
Storage Building Blocks (SBBs)
Compute Building Blocks (CBB)
CBB is a rack that includes specially
configured AlphaServer DS20L nodes.
Each node includes:
-Two Alpha 21264 (EV68) 833-MHz CPU
with 4-MB cache each
-One AlphaServer SC Elan adapter card
-Tru64
UNIX
Some SC40/SC45 CBBs can be added
for mixed configurations.
Interconnect Building Block (IBB)
IBB includes a multi-port switch using
technology from Quadrics
Supercomputers World, as well as a
Management Network and console
network components.
Management Building Block
MBB consists of one Management
Server, based on a DS20E or DS10,
and also includes management network
and console network components.
Storage Building Blocks (SBB)
SBB includes
- Dual HSG80 RAID Controller
-
