Removing and replacing a primary 3.5-inch hard drive

CAUTION:

All removable media should be taken out of a drive before removing the drive from the computer.

1.

Prepare the computer for disassembly (

Preparation for disassembly on page 19

).

2.

Remove the access panel (

Access panel on page 20

).

3.

Rotate the drive cage to its upright position (

Rotating the drive cage on page 32

).

4.

Disconnect the power cable (1) and data cable (2) from the back of the hard drive.

5.

Pull the release lever next to the rear of the hard drive outward (1). While pulling the release lever out, 
slide the drive back until it stops, and then lift the drive up and out of the bay (2).
