Installation Procedures
Following are the procedures to install the HP A4350A Mass Storage Module upgrade in the Model
748i/64 or 748i/100 Ruggedized Workstation. or TELEPACE.
Prerequisites
The HP A4268A Fast Wide Differential SCSI Adapter must be installed on the Model 743 CPU board.

for installation instructions.
The Operating System must be HP–UX 9.05 or later.
Installation Procedures Overview
Installing the HP A4350A Mass Storage Module upgrade consists of the following procedures:
Prepare to install the mass storage module.
Power off the system.
Remove the existing mass storage module.
Install mass storage devices in the new mass storage module
Install the new mass storage module into the system, connect cables, and config-
ure system to include the FastWide SCSI devices.
Verify system operation.
Prepare to Install the Mass Storage Module Upgrade
Before upgrading the mass storage module, you should perform the following:
Unpack and verify kit contents. (See Kit Contents on previous page)
Observe Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) precautions.
Gather tools and accessories.
Observe Electrostatic Discharge Precautions
Electrostatic charges can damage the integrated circuits. To prevent such damage from occurring,
observe the following precautions when unpacking and installing the upgrade.
Stand on a static–free mat.
Wear a static strap to ensure that any accumulated electrostatic charge discharges
from your body to ground.
Connect all equipment together, including the static–free mat, static straps, and
all computer hardware.
Keep uninstalled printed circuit boards in their protective antistatic bags.
Handle printed circuit boards by their edges once you have removed them from
their protective antistatic bags.
Gather Tools and Accessories
The tools required for the installation of the mass storage module upgrade kit are:
Flat–bladed screwdriver and Phillips Head screwdriver (not supplied with kit).
Grounding wrist strap supplied in the kit.
Anti–Static Bag supplied in the kit.
