Step 1: Check the Drive’s SCSI ID
Check the tape drive’s SCSI ID on the SCSI ID switch on the rear panel
of the drive. If necessary, change it from the default of 3 by pressing the

−
buttons above and below the SCSI ID number. Use a
ball-point pen or similar pointed object. To prevent particle
contamination, do not use a pencil.

Step 2: Set the Configuration Switches
Check the UNIX configuration switches on the bottom of the drive.
Change the switch settings, if necessary.

Step 3: Connect the SCSI Cable
Attach the SCSI cable to the SCSI connector on the rear of the tape
drive. Make sure that the supplied terminator is firmly attached to the
drive’s other SCSI connector and the latches are in place.

Step 4: Connect the Power Cable
Push the DIN plug on the power supply’s cable securely into the socket
on the rear panel of the drive. Plug the power cable securely into the
power supply. Power up the drive by plugging the other end of the
power cable into the power outlet.

On Completion
Power on the system and check the tape drive is operational. Insert the
HP SureStore Tape CD-ROM. It contains drivers, backup software and
many useful utilities. Register your tape drive.
