Serial
Numbers
Attached
to
the
front
lower
right
frame
of
the
mainframe
,
behind
the
swing-down
door
,
is
a
mylar
serial-number
label.
The
serial
number
is
divided
into
two
parts
.
The
rst
four
digits
and
a
letter
are
the
serial
number
prex,
and
the
last
ve
digits
are
the
sux.

The
prex
is
coded
for
the
date
of
the
last
conguration
change
and
is
the
same
for
all
identical
mainframes;
a
prex
break
or
change
only
occurs
when
a
signicant
modication
is
made
to
the
product.
The
letter
designates
the
country
of
origin.
The
sux
is
assigned
sequentially
and
is
dierent
for
each
mainframe
.
