WEGA 2.2 4025122-001
Instructions for Use
1. General
The integrated WEGA 2.2 voltage detecting system is a three-phase indication device which is
designed to display the operating voltage of medium-voltage switchgear installations. The device
complies with the requirements of the IEC 61243-5 standard (VDE 0682 Part 415) for capacitive
voltage detecting systems.
The WEGA 2.2 is built for the installation in switchgear units. It serves to detect and indicate the
operating condition of medium-voltage installations according to VDE 0105, Part 1 and Part 100.
Additional functions:
Relay signal when at least one of all three phases indicates ‚voltage present‘ (arrow).
•
Relay signal when at least one of all three phases indicates ‚no voltage present‘ (no arrow).
•
Active zero voltage indication by means of three flashing tool symbols on the display.
•
Three-phase LRM interface for the connection of a phase comparator, e.g. the ‚Orion 3.0‘
•
type, made by Horstmann GmbH.
Display test via button on the front panel.
•
Permanently backlit symbols for improved identification of the voltage indication also in case
•
of bad visibility conditions.
Universal voltage supply (auxiliary voltage): 24 to 230V AC or DC
•
2. Regulations for use
The WEGA 2.2 is exclusively to be used to detect voltage conditions and phase comparisons. It is
imperative that the safety rules of VDE 0105, Part 1 and Part 100 are always observed when using
this voltage detecting device.
Please observe especially the following:
Integrated WEGA 2.2 voltage detecting systems are to be installed and used for the
•
detection of the voltage condition only by electrically skilled or electrically instructed
persons.
Integrated WEGA 2.2 voltage detecting systems must only be used for the permissible
•
nominal voltage (nominal voltage of the medium-voltage network) and nominal frequency.
The intended use and operation of the equipment must be in accordance with the operating
manual (section 5).
The unambiguous indication „voltage present“ according to IEC 61243-5 is ensured
•
under the condition that the WEGA 2.2 voltage detecting system is used for its permissible
nominal voltage and nominal frequency and the adaptation is realized by matching
capacitors.
This indication appears in 3-phase systems in the range of 45% to 120% of the nominal
•
voltage, however not in cases of less than 10% of the nominal voltage.
Integrated WEGA 2.2 voltage detecting systems are designed for indoor use only.
•
Prior to accessing the medium-voltage area, verify all-pole isolation from the supply.
•
In case of adverse lighting conditions or failure of auxiliary voltage supply it may be
•
necessary to darken or additionally illuminate the visual display.
Integrated WEGA 2.2 voltage detecting systems are suitable for continuous operation.
