Safety Key/Reed Switch Troubleshooting

Symptom

Possible Cause

Test Procedure

Repair

Console only displays dashes in 

the display window – 

Magnet 

style key.

Safety key is positioned 

incorrectly or has failed.

Failed reed switch.

-Remove safety key and reapply.

-Test magnet.

-Short the switch connector on 

the upper board by using a flat 

blade screwdriver or by placing 

a jumper switch on the 

connector. 

Reference Upper Board Wiring 

Diagram. (p. 18 & p. 19)

Replace safety key.

If the upper board still displays 

dashes then replace upper 

board. Otherwise replace reed 

switch.
