PLANNING THE INSTALLATION
The number of F111U Air Cleaners required is determined by
considering number of occupants and volume of space. Other
factors include type of contamination, outdoor air quality and
planned use of space.
Refer to Table 1 for general guidelines when determining
number of air cleaners needed.
Example: One air cleaner can provide about 2-1/4 air changes
per hour in a 24,000 cubic feet (680 cubic meters) area. Table
1 suggests two air cleaners for a 24,000 cubic foot space.
Additional air cleaners can be required in locations with
increased activity or where contaminant generation rates are
unusually high.
Choosing a Location
1.
Choose a location that allows for regular inspection and
cleaning.
2.
Allow for clearance on side of unit for removing lamp
assemblies. See Fig. 1 for clearance requirement.
3.
To get maximum performance from air cleaner,
select location where bidirectional airflow pattern flows
into the longest reaches of the zone being cleaned. See
Fig. 2.
Fig. 2. Correct positioning of air cleaner for optimum
cleaning.
NOTE: The air cleaner is designed to be mounted centrally
in the ceiling of a space. The air cleaner cleaning
footprint is rectangular with air patterns that move
clean air to the corners of the area while drawing
contaminated air up from the center of the area.
When multiple air cleaners are installed, position
them so the areas to be cleaned are equal. Consider
that the air throw in one direction is approximately
50 ft (15m).
IMPORTANT
To assure optimum air cleaner effectiveness, do not
hang air cleaner more than 16 ft (5m) above floor.
