7  Data transfer  

7.1  Internal 2G- (GSM/GPRS) and 3G modem (UMTS) 

The SIM card must always be correctly inserted as described in 

 chapter 

7.1.2

. You then proceed 

according to modem version as described in the following 

 chapter. 

7.1.1  Distinguishing the internal modem types 

Starting with software version 2.50, the EK280 also supports its successor types "ECM-2G-UG350" 

(GSM/GPRS) and "ECM-3G-UU270" (GSM/GPRS/UMTS) as well as the previously used 2G modem "ECM-

GW120" (GSM/GPRS).  
The actions described in the following chapters of this Application manual differ in certain places depending 

on the built-in modem type. The following diagrams show the built-in modem type: 

 

Module with one

Module with one ECM-2G-UG350 or ECM-3G-UU270: 

 

 

The ECM-2G-UG350 and ECM-3G-UU270 modem types are distinguished by
