4. REAR SHIELD
During normal use the rear shield is subject to
deterioration and wear. Check the rear shield for
cracks or tears. If the rear shield is worn, replace it
.
The end of the rear shield shaft is crimped. To
replace the shield, cut the shaft with a hacksaw and
replace the shaft and install a new push nut.
5. BLADE
INSPECTION
1. Turn the fuel valve to the OFF position. This will
reduce the possibility of fuel leakage when the
mower is tilted.
2. Disconnect the spark plug cap.
3. Tilt the mower on its right side, so the
carburetor is up.
4. Inspect the blade for damage, cracks, and
excessive wear, rust, or corrosion.
5. Verify the blade bolts are tight.
TORQUE:
49 ~ 59 N•m (36 ~ 43 ft-lb)
6. If the blade is bent or severely damaged, check
the crankshaft runout (
7. A dull blade can be sharpened, but a blade that
is worn out, bent, cracked, or otherwise
damaged must be replaced.
