SERVICING YOUR GENERATOR
FOAM AIR FILTER CLEANING
A dirty foam air filter will restrict air flow to the carburetor, reducing
engine performance. If you operate the generator in very dusty areas,
clean the foam air filter more frequently than specified in the
Maintenance Schedule (see page
).
Wash the foam air filter in a solution of household detergent and
warm water, then rinse thoroughly, or wash in non-flammable or
high flash point solvent. Allow the foam air filter to dry thoroughly.
Soak the foam air filter in clean engine oil and squeeze out the
excess oil. The engine will smoke during initial startup if too much
oil is left in the foam air filter.
Remove the rubber air guide from the air cleaner case.
Clean the rubber air guide and the air cleaner case with a moist rag,
then reinstall the rubber air guide.
