SERVICING YOUR OUTBOARD MOTOR
ENGINE COVER REMOVAL
AND INSTALLATION
The engine cover retaining strap
fastens the engine cover to the
outboard motor.
To remove the engine cover, unhook
the engine cover retaining strap, then
lift the engine cover off the outboard
motor.
To install the engine cover, place the
cover on the outboard motor, then
hook the engine cover retaining strap
securely.
Engine Oil Level Check
Check the engine oil level with the
engine stopped and the outboard
motor in the vertical position.
1. Check the oil level shown on the
oil level inspection window.
2. If the oil level is near or below the
lower limit mark on the window,
fill with the recommended oil to
the upper limit mark on the
window.
• Running the engine with a low
oil level can cause engine
damage.
• Do not overfill. Overfilling the
engine will cause it to smoke or
have oil leaks.
The upper limit mark is below
the half-way point in the window.
If the oil level reaches the middle
of the window, the engine is
overfilled with oil.
