degree from zero in position 0 to the maximum in position 11. The speed preset on the fine
speed adjustment dial is controlled by the power requirements of the attachment. If while
operating the attachment, for example, plowing with the fine speed adjustment dial in position
5, the power requirements of the attachment increase (the tractor gets into a snowbank and
has to move a big pile of snow), the tractor slows down. When the power requirements for
the attachment decrease (the big pile of snow has been moved), the tractor accelerates back to
the ground speed corresponding to position 5.
4. Disengage the parking brake. Follow
Engaging/disengaging parking brake
procedure.
Note:
If the dual drive system is installed on the tractor, see
Driving with dual drive system
procedure. If the SDS system is installed on the tractor, see
Driving with special drive system
(SDS)
procedure.
5. If drive program 1 or 2 is selected:
a. Set the drive direction switch to either forward or reverse.
b. Actuate the throttle pedal to gain the appropriate ground speed.
6. If drive program 3 or 4 is selected:
a. If needed, engage the PTO. Follow
Engaging PTO
procedure.
b. Turn the hand throttle counter-clockwise to increase engine speed to at least 1500 rpm.
c. Set the drive direction switch to either forward or reverse.
d. Set the fine speed adjustment dial to the appropriate ground speed.
Engaging/disengaging parking brake
This section provides instruction how to engage/disengage the parking brake on the tractor. The current
version of C992 is equipped with automatic parking brake system, which is operated via a momentary
parking brake switch. The operator has to press the momentary parking switch in order to actuate it.
Previous versions of C992 are equipped with non-automatic parking brake system, which is operated
via a conventional on/off switch.
To engage the parking brake:
Caution:
Always engage the parking brake before exiting the cab. Failure to comply may
create a hazardous situation that can lead to injuries.
1. Set the drive program switch to 0.
2. Set the drive direction switch to neutral.
3. Turn off the ignition key. If the tractor has automatic parking brake system, the light in the
momentary parking brake switch flashes and remains lit until the parking brake is fully engaged.
