Seat Belt Use During
Pregnancy
{
Warning
The lap belt must be positioned
as low as possible across the
pelvis to prevent pressure on the
abdomen.
Safety System Check
Now and then, check that the seat
belt reminder light, seat belts,
buckles, latch plates, retractors, and
anchorages are all working properly.
Look for any other loose or
damaged seat belt system parts that
might keep a seat belt system from
doing its job. See your dealer to
have it repaired. Torn or frayed seat
belts may not protect you in a crash.
They can rip apart under impact
forces. If a belt is torn or frayed, get
a new one right away.
Make sure the seat belt reminder
light is working. See

Seat Belt Care
Keep belts clean and dry.
Periodically check all parts of the
seat belt system for damage and
proper functionality. Have damaged
components replaced.
After an accident, have the belts
and triggered belt pretensioners
replaced by your dealer.
Note:
Make sure that the seat belts
are not damaged by shoes or
sharped-edged objects or trapped.
Prevent dirt from getting into the belt
retractors.
Replacing Seat Belt
System Parts after a
Crash
{
Danger
A crash can damage the seat belt
system in the vehicle. A damaged
seat belt system may not properly
protect the person using it,
resulting in serious injury or even
death in a crash. To help make
sure the seat belt systems are
working properly after a crash,
have them inspected and any
necessary replacements made as
soon as possible.
