Fuel
Use of the recommended fuel is an
important part of the proper
maintenance of this vehicle, keeps
the engine clean, and maintains
optimum vehicle performance.
Use premium unleaded petrol with a
posted rating of 95 RON or higher.
If the rating is less than 95 RON,
you could damage the engine.
If heavy knocking is heard when
using petrol rated at 95 RON or
higher, the engine needs service.
Fuel Additives
Petrol should contain detergent
additives that help prevent engine
and fuel system deposits from
forming. Clean fuel injectors and
intake valves will allow the emission
control system to work properly.
Petrol containing oxygenates, such
as ethers and ethanol, may be
available in your area. However,
fuels containing more than
10% ethanol, such as E85
(85% ethanol), or more than
15% MTBE (an ether) should not be
used in vehicles that were not
designed for those fuels. See
Recommended Fluids and
Lubricants on page 11-2
for more
information.

Caution
This vehicle was not designed for
fuel that contains methanol. Do
not use fuel containing methanol.
It can corrode metal parts in the
fuel system and also damage
plastic and rubber parts. That
damage may not be covered
under the New Vehicle Voluntary
Warranty.
Some petrol can contain an
octane-enhancing additive called
methylcyclopentadienyl manganese
tricarbonyl (MMT); ask the attendant
where you buy petrol whether the
fuel contains MMT. We recommend
against the use of such petrol. Fuels
containing MMT can reduce spark
plug life and affect emission control
system performance. The
malfunction indicator lamp might
turn on. If this occurs, return to your
dealer for service.
