Installing iSCSI Initiator Software
Depending on your operating system, you may need to download an
initiator software. For example, the iSCSI initiator for Microsoft Windows XP
or Windows Server 2003 can be downloaded free of charge from the
following site: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads. iSCSI initiator
software for Microsoft Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008, Solaris, and
VMware, on the other hand, are included with these operating systems.
Using the instructions for your iSCSI initiator, install the software on your
host and write the name of the initiator (you will need this when you enter
the iSCSI host name). Then tell your host where to find volumes on your
array. Depending on your operating system, you may also need to add the
target to the iSCSI service's binding list, initialize new drives, create
partitions, and format new volumes.
