Installing the Quilter’s Cruise Control
®
Step 1. Find a suitable location for the Quilter’s Cruise Control
®
brain. This is the black box
shown on the cover of the manual. It should be mounted in a place so that the encoder wires can
reach the encoders on your particular quilting frame. When you find a suitable location, you can
mount the brain using Velcro
®
or double stick foam tape.
Step 2. Plug in the connector from the
brain to the motor control box on the
Voyager 17. There is a small receptacle
next to the mode selector switch on the
Voyager 17 control unit.
Step 3. Set the mode selector switch to the
down position. This will allow the Voyager
17 motor controller to receive signals from
the Quilter’s Cruise Control
®
brain.
Step 4. Install the optical encoders on your
quilting frame following the instructions
provided. Connect the encoder wires from
the brain to the receptacles on the optical
encoders.
Step 5. Plug the wall transformer attached
to the Quilter’s Cruise Control
®
into a
suitable wall outlet. You will see the green
light on the end of the brain illuminate.

Step 1. You are ready to begin quilting. When you depress the red button on the Voyager 17
control, the machine will begin to idle. When you move the carriages, the machine will begin to
speed up and slow down to match the carriage movement.
Step 2. Adjust the stitch length to your liking by turning the stitch length knob on the front panel
of the Quilter’s Cruise Control
®
brain. Turning the knob counterclockwise will decrease the stitch
length. Turning the knob clockwise will increase the stitch length.

®
for your Voyager 17 has come with a Specification Sheet. It will be
helpful to refer to this if you have any questions regarding the use of your unit. Keep it, and your
warranty in a safe place.
