2.4 Latch Disengage Malfunction
1. If the CarePorter™ Cart is not yet coupled to the bed or stretcher, take
these steps:
a. Adjust the power equipment shelf to the designated height for the type
of bed or stretcher to be coupled to, as indicated by the label on the
front panel of the CarePorter™ Cart.
b. Adjust the bed or stretcher to the proper height for coupling to the
CarePorter™ Cart.
c. Push the CarePorter™ Cart and bed or stretcher together.
d. Ensure the latches and pins engage and automatically couple.
2. Simultaneously, pull each latch release handle. The CarePorter™ Cart
latch releases from the bed attachment pin.

3. Go to “Final Actions” on page 2-5.
4. The latch assembly requires excessive force to disengage from the pin on
the bed attachment brackets.

5. Inspect the latch mechanism assembly for damage. It is damaged.

6. Replace the damaged latch assembly (refer to procedure 4.15). This solves
the problem.

8. Another part of the bed interferes with the latch assembly.
