Before Zoning
This section provides information on actions that should be taken before starting zoning on the Ultrastar
Data60.
Users should install all of the required downloads before beginning the zoning process.

Predefined Zoning Configurations
There are three predefined zoning configurations for the Ultrastar Data60. Each configuration allows the user
connect a different number of hosts that have access to a set number of drives. Each of these drives are part
of a grouping called a zone group. This section displays the necessary information related to each of the
predefined zoning configurations.
Configuration 0:
Configuration 0 allows all hosts to view all drive slots and the devices that are populated in those drive slots.
In this Configuration, all of the drives belong to the same zone group as shown in the image below represented
by one color. Each of the SAS ports on the rear IO of the enclosure are also represented by one color to
display their connection to all of the drives within the enclosure.
• In-band management: Configuration 0 can be initiated to disable zoning in the sg_senddiag command
in-band by using 00 in the Zoning Configuration option. See:
