Installing an M.2 SATA SSD
Prerequisites
Before you perform this procedure:

Make sure that the fan cage is installed.
• Make sure you have the following items available:

M.2 SSD enablement option
◦
M.2 SSD
◦
T-15 Torx screwdriver
◦
Phillips No. 1 screwdriver – This is required only if the M.2 SSD is not preinstalled on the enablement board.
Procedure

Remove all power:
a. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
b. Disconnect each power cord from the server.

Disconnect all peripheral cables from the server.
5.
Do one of the following:
Position the tower server for hardware configuration.
• Server in rack mode:
Extend the server from the rack.

Remove the PCI blank retainer.

10. If the M.2 SSD enablement board option does not include a screw for installation, remove one of the preinstalled
11. If the SSD is not preinstalled on the M.2 SSD enablement board, do the following:
If only one SSD is being installed, install the SSD in slot 1.
a. Insert the SSD into the M.2 slot at a 45° angle.
b. Carefully press the SSD down to the horizontal position.
c. Install the SSD mounting screw.
