
15. Connect the optical drive power-SATA cable to the system board.
16. If the fan cage was removed, do the following:
a. Make sure that all the system cables that are routed through the front cable channel are properly secured in the
metal cable tabs. This is done to prevent system damage due to cables being inadvertently caught under the fan
cage.
19. Do one of the following:
Position the tower server for operation.
• Server in rack mode:
Slide the server into the rack.
20. Connect all peripheral cables to the server.
21. Connect each power cord to the server.
22. Connect each power cord to the power source.
The installation is complete.
Fan cage option
The server supports a fan cage option. This fan cage is required for
specific hardware configurations.

Fan cage implementation
The fan cage is required to meet the system thermal requirements for the following configurations:
• Server operating in rack mode
• Dual-processor configuration
• Server with the following drive box configurations:

The maximum number of drives is installed in boxes 1, 2, and 3 (12 drives for LFF configuration, 24 drives for SFF
configuration).

The maximum number of drives is installed in boxes 2 and 3, and at least two media devices are installed.
