Herr Engineering Corp. Kit #506 P-51 Mustang Correction Sheet, Revision #1
1...The grooved hardwood landing gear blocks may be slightly longer than shown on the plan. This is OK. Just center them so an
equal amount extends past ribs W-3/W-3A and W-4/W-4A.
2...The plywood rib doublers on sheet LC-506-11 shown in the instruction book as W-5A should be marked W-3A.
3...The items listed on the instruction manual on page #2 listed in the wood bag are actually packed in two bags. The poplar ply
sheet LC-506-11 is packed loose in the box. Several other items listed elsewhere are now packed in this bag as well.
4...Be careful that you do not glue the lower spar to the wing jig. You can cut a thin strip of wax paper to place on top of the jig for
added protection but careful gluing will prevent sticking.
5...We have had many complaints from customers about the TopFlite® LusterKote® paint. We have tried this paint and cannot rec-
ommend it for any use at this time. We have used Chevron Prefect Paint for many years and recommend it highly. Always test the
paint that you are planning to use on some scrap material before attempting to paint your model. We will not be responsible for any
problems that result from the use of TopFlite® LusterKote® paint.
6...The aileron stock in the kit is now shipped as two 18” pieces. These pieces in reality will be slightly shorter than 18” because of
the material removed by the saw cut. They should still be slightly longer than needed. If for some reason the ailerons are slightly
short you can make the tapered torque rod blocks slightly longer. The torque rod blocks ate supplied long and you will need to trim
them to the proper length on assembly. Test fit the ailerons and torque rod blocks before cutting them to assure a proper fit. After
covering there should be a 1/32” gap at each end of the aileron to prevent binding.
7...There are two parts shown on the drawings on page 3 of the instruction book labeled BS-5. The part on LC-506-03 should be
labeled as BS-4.
