Item 57612

Kickback is the result of saw misuse and/or incorrect
operating procedures or conditions and can be avoided
by taking proper precautions as given below.

a.

0DLQWDLQDILUPJULSZLWKERWKKDQGVRQWKH
VDZDQGSRVLWLRQ\RXUDUPVWRUHVLVWNLFNEDFN
IRUFHV3RVLWLRQ\RXUERG\WRHLWKHUVLGH
RIWKHEODGHEXWQRWLQOLQHZLWKWKHEODGH

Kickback could cause the saw to jump backwards,
but kickback forces can be controlled by the
operator, if proper precautions are taken.

 Investigate and take corrective actions

to eliminate the cause of blade binding.

c.

:KHQUHVWDUWLQJDVDZLQWKHZRUNSLHFH
FHQWUHWKHVDZEODGHLQWKHNHUIVRWKDWWKH
VDZWHHWKDUHQRWHQJDJHGLQWRWKHPDWHULDO

If a saw blade binds, it may walk up or kickback
from the workpiece as the saw is restarted.

d.

6XSSRUWODUJHSDQHOVWRPLQLPLVHWKHULVNRI
EODGHSLQFKLQJDQGNLFNEDFN

Large panels tend

to sag under their own weight. Supports must
be placed under the panel on both sides, near
the line of cut and near the edge of the panel.

e.

'RQRWXVHGXOORUGDPDJHGEODGHV

Unsharpened or improperly set blades
produce narrow kerf causing excessive
friction, blade binding and kickback.

f.

%ODGHGHSWKDQGEHYHODGMXVWLQJORFNLQJ
OHYHUVPXVWEHWLJKWDQGVHFXUHEHIRUH
PDNLQJWKHFXW

If blade adjustment shifts while

cutting, it may cause binding and kickback.

g.

8VHH[WUDFDXWLRQZKHQVDZLQJLQWRH[LVWLQJ
ZDOOVRURWKHUEOLQGDUHDV

The protruding

blade may cut objects that can cause kickback.

guard

LQWRWKHRSHQSRVLWLRQ

 If the saw is accidentally

dropped, the lower guard may be bent. Raise the
lower guard with the retracting handle and make
sure it moves freely and does not touch the blade
or any other part, in all angles and depths of cut.

b.

VSULQJ,IWKHJXDUGDQGWKHVSULQJDUH
QRWRSHUDWLQJSURSHUO\WKH\PXVWEH

 Lower guard may

operate sluggishly due to damaged parts,
gummy deposits, or a build-up of debris.

 For all other sawing, the

lower guard should operate automatically.

d.

$OZD\VREVHUYHWKDWWKHORZHUJXDUG
LVFRYHULQJWKHEODGHEHIRUHSODFLQJ
WKHVDZGRZQRQEHQFKRUIORRU

An

unprotected, coasting blade will cause the
saw to walk backwards, cutting whatever is
in its path. Be aware of the time it takes for
the blade to stop after switch is released.

9.

%DWWHU\WRROXVHDQGFDUH

a.

3UHYHQWXQLQWHQWLRQDOVWDUWLQJ

Ensure the

switch is in the off-position before connecting
to battery pack, picking up or carrying the
power tool. Carrying the power tool with your
finger on the switch or energizing power tool
that have the switch on invites accidents.

'LVFRQQHFWWKHEDWWHU\SDFNIURPWKH
SRZHUWRROEHIRUHPDNLQJDQ\DGMXVWPHQWV

Such preventive safety measures reduce the
risk of starting the power tool accidentally.

c.

5HFKDUJHRQO\ZLWKWKHFKDUJHUVSHFLILHGE\
WKHPDQXIDFWXUHU

A charger that is suitable

for one type of battery pack may create a risk
of fire when used with another battery pack.

d.

GHVLJQDWHGEDWWHU\SDFNV

Use of any other

battery packs may create a risk of injury and fire.

terminals together may cause burns or a fire.

f.

8QGHUDEXVLYHFRQGLWLRQVOLTXLGPD\EH
HMHFWHGIURPWKHEDWWHU\DYRLGFRQWDFW

If contact accidentally occurs, flush with
water. If liquid contacts eyes, additionally
seek medical help.  Liquid ejected from the
battery may cause irritation or burns.

g.

'RQRWXVHDEDWWHU\SDFNRUSRZHUWRROWKDW
LVGDPDJHGRUPRGLILHG

Damaged or modified

batteries may exhibit unpredictable behavior
resulting in fire, explosion or risk of injury.

h.

'RQRWH[SRVHDEDWWHU\SDFNRUSRZHUWRROWR
ILUHRUH[FHVVLYHWHPSHUDWXUH

Exposure to fire

or temperature above 265°F may cause explosion.
