The MODEL 1X Water Heater must be installed by a
licensed electrician in accordance with all applicable
national, state, provincial and local electrical codes.
Under no circumstances should the MODEL 1X Water
Heater be installed without first shutting off all power to
the unit at the fuse or breaker box.
HEATWORKS RECOMMENDS: Reference colored wiring
diagram on the inside of the MODEL 1X back cover.
STEPS
1) Prior to wiring your MODEL 1X Water Heater, a
licensed electrician should consult the MODEL 1X
Installation & User Manual.
2) Verify all wiring (wire gauge) and circuit protection
(breakers) comply with national and local electrical
codes.
3) Remove the back cover by unscrewing the four
Phillips screws in each corner.
4) Your MODEL 1X will
have a short length of
wire already installed into
one of the controller
terminals. The other end
is INTENTIONALLY
disconnected. Insert an
appropriate strain relief
fitting into the electrical
opening on the MODEL
2X as shown in Figure 5.1.
5) Insert your existing wiring along with the supplied
extension cable through the strain relief fitting and
MODEL 1X opening.
6) Trim your existing
wiring and align its ends
with the extension cable
as shown in Figure 5.2.

6) Turn on the main water supply.
7) Purge all air from the water lines and MODEL 1X by
opening a hot water demand source (hot faucet, shower,
etc.) Allow water to run though the water heater for at
least two to three minutes. Water from faucet will not be
hot at this point.
