Appliance Setup
A. Remove the Packaging
Remove the shrink
fi
lm, corrugated top cap, bottom cap
and column protectors from the appliance. The appliance
should look as shown in Figure 11.1.
B. Remove Screen Package Assembly
• Grasp the top of the screen package and lift up to
remove. See Figures 11.2 and 11.3.

C. Remove the Shipping Materials
Remove the shipping materials from inside or underneath
the
fi
rebox.
• The splatter guard is a piece of corrugated material
used to protect the appliance during the installation
process before
fi
nishing work on the whole hearth is
complete. Splatter guards may be factory installed
or accompany the door of the unit, depending on the
fi
replace model. Splatter guards must be removed
before appliance is
fi
red.
WARNING! Risk of Fire!
Close the ball valve before in-
stalling the splatter guard to prevent accidental lighting.
Remove the splatter guard before lighting the appliance.

assembly with care. Inspect the gasket to ensure it is
undamaged and inspect the glass for cracks, chips or
scratches.
•
DO NOT
strike, slam or scratch glass.
•
DO NOT
operate
fi
replace with glass removed, cracked,
broken or scratched.
•
Replace as a complete assembly.
• Remove screen.
• Pull the four (30/33/36 in. appliances) or seven (42 in.
appliance) glass assembly latches out of the groove on
the glass frame. Refer to Figure 11.4.
• Remove the glass assembly from the appliance.
Remove Top Log Pack
The top log pack is shipped inside the
fi
rebox. When
you remove the glass, the log pack will come out also.
