II. Safety Rules and Precautions
The installation, operation and maintenance instructions in this manual must be followed to
provide safe and efficient operation of the furnace. Particular care must be exercised regarding
special precautions noted throughout this manual. Failure to address critical areas and
situations noted could result in PROPERTY DAMAGE OR LOSS, PERSONAL INJURY, OR
DEATH.
HAZARD INTENSITY LEVELS
1. DANGER:
Indicates an
imminently
hazardous situation, which, if not avoided,
will result in death or
serious injury
2.
WARNING:
indicates a
potentially
hazardous situation, which, if not avoided, could result in death or
serious injury
3. CAUTION:
indicates a potentially hazardous situation, which, if not avoided,
may result in personal injury
.
It is also used to alert to unsafe practices and hazards involving possible property damage.
4. IMPORTANT:
Indicates a situation which, if not avoided, may result in a potential safety concern.
Safety Rules & Requirements
1.) Only Natural and Propane gases are approved for use with this furnace. Verify that available gas supply matches the
“Gas Type” marked on furnace rating plate.
2.) Electrical supply matches the heater voltage marked on the duct furnace Rating Plate.
3.) The furnace needs air for combustion to operate properly and safely. Provide adequate combustion air openings to the
furnace as outline in Section V.
4.) Combustion products must be discharged to the outdoors. Connect this furnace to an approved vent system, as specified
in Section VI.
5.) During heating operation, condensate is produced in duct furnace sections. Installation requires condensate drain system
for each furnace section. See Section VII.
6.)
Test for gas leaks
as specified in Section VIII.
7.) System must supply circulating airflow within the marked maximum and minimum airflows.
8.) The furnace is not to be used for temporary heating of buildings or structures under construction.
9.) Do not use furnace if any part has been under water. Contact a Qualified Service Agency to inspect the furnace and
replace all gas and electronic controls that have been wet.
WARNING !
This furnace is not listed or suitable for drying or process applications. Use in
such applications voids any warranty and manufacturer disclaims any
responsibility for the duct furnace and /or application.
DANGER !
Gas-fired furnaces are not designed for use in hazardous atmospheres
containing flammable vapors or combustible dust, in atmospheres containing
chlorinated or halogenated hydrocarbons, or in applications with airborne
substances containing silicone.
WARNING
!
The presence of chlorine vapors in the combustion air supplied to gas-
fired heaters presents a substantial corrosion hazard.
