INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
STEP 3:
Unit is supplied with an external power cord. If desired, the power cord may be
removed and the unit may be wired through the back; see Installation Drawing for
rear electrical access location.
Install supply line in one of the locations shown in Installation Drawing (if bottom
inlet port is used, remove plug from port and install supplied grommet – for use
with 3/8” tubing).
Connect water inlet with screwdriver stop (not supplied).
Verify proper supply and electrical locations.
STEP 4:
Secure rear cover/mounting bracket to wall; a number of mounting holes are
provided to fasten bracket direct to wall (fasteners not supplied; see Installation
Drawing for hole pattern).
Note that the unit weighs approximately 30 pounds. As such, attach rear
cover/mounting bracket using six 1/8” x 3” zinc-plated steel toggle bolts (in
conjunction with six appropriately-sized zinc-plated steel 1/8” fender washers).
Use level to verify horizontal and vertical frame mounting.
STEP 5:
Apply a thin coat of NSF-61 o-ring lubricant (supplied) to the o-rings on the top of
the filter cartridge (avoid excessive application), firmly insert filter cartridge into
filter head, and twist (clockwise when viewed from bottom – see markings on filter
and filter head for alignment) until it stops (head and cartridge must be properly
aligned for cartridge to seat – note arrows on cartridge).
Attach filter monitor battery connector to filter monitor battery pack.
STEP 6:
Use
supplied magnetic key to unlock magnetic latch in plastic upper body panel –
place key on front of body panel opposite magnetic latch (see Installation
Drawing) and pull panel open (key will stay on panel by itself if it is in the right
location).
Slots are provided in the upper body panel for leverage; insert a screwdriver or
something similar to lever the panel open.
Note:
This can scratch the sheet metal
if done improperly.
At times, the tight fit between the magnetic latch and the sheet metal panel may
cause the magnetic latch to catch slightly on the edge of the sheet metal panel,
preventing it from retracting. If this happens, the door will not open. Press briefly
on the body panel in front of the latch to disengage the latch from the sheet metal
back panel.
Note the red lockout switch on the magnetic latch; this switch must be rotated
down toward the hinged plastic body panel in order for the latch to actuate.
STEP 7:
Place unit onto rear cover/mounting bracket. Secure unit to mounting frame using
screws removed in step 1.
Complete inlet plumbing run between the screwdriver stop and the solenoid valve.
STEP 8:
Open screwdriver stop
wide open
while checking for leaks at all connections.
STEP 9
:
Remove magnetic key and check to ensure that the red lockout switch is oriented
so the latch can lock. Close body panel. Store magnetic key in a secure location.
Be certain body panel is firmly in place. Provide AC power to unit.
