1. Cleaning
CAUTION 1: INSTRUCTIONS AND PROCEDURES IN
THIS SECTION MAY INVOLVE PROPELLER
CRITICAL PARTS. REFER TO THE
INTRODUCTION CHAPTER OF THIS MANUAL
FOR INFORMATION ABOUT PROPELLER
CRITICAL PARTS. REFER TO THE
ILLUSTRATED PARTS LIST CHAPTER OF
THE APPLICABLE OVERHAUL MANUAL(S)
FOR THE IDENTIFICATION OF SPECIFIC
PROPELLER CRITICAL PARTS.
CAUTION 2: DO NOT USE PRESSURE WASHING
EQUIPMENT TO CLEAN THE PROPELLER
OR CONTROL COMPONENTS. PRESSURE
WASHING CAN FORCE WATER AND/
OR CLEANING SOLVENTS PAST SEALS,
AND LEAD TO INTERNAL CORROSION OF
PROPELLER COMPONENTS.
A. General Cleaning
CAUTION 1: WHEN CLEANING THE PROPELLER,
DO NOT ALLOW SOAP OR SOLVENT
SOLUTIONS TO RUN OR SPLASH INTO
THE HUB AREA.
CAUTION 2: DO NOT CLEAN THE PROPELLER WITH
CAUSTIC OR ACIDIC SOAP SOLUTIONS.
IRREPARABLE CORROSION OF
PROPELLER COMPONENTS MAY
OCCUR.
(1) Wash propeller with a noncorrosive soap solution.
CAUTION:
DO NOT USE ANY SOLVENT DURING
CLEANING THAT COULD SOFTEN
OR DESTROY THE BOND BETWEEN
CHEMICALLY ATTACHED PARTS.
(2) To remove grease or oil from propeller surfaces, apply
Stoddard Solvent or equivalent to a clean cloth and wipe
the part clean.
(3) Thoroughly rinse with water and allow to dry.
