(6) If the propeller will be reinstalled and it has been
dynamically balanced, make an identifying mark (with a
felt-tipped pen only) on the propeller hub and a matching
mark on the engine flange to make sure of correct
positioning of the propeller during re-installation.
NOTE: This will prevent dynamic imbalance.
CAUTION:
DISCARD THE PROPELLER MOUNTING
NUTS AND WASHERS IF THEY ARE
DAMAGED OR CORRODED, OR WHEN
THE PROPELLER IS REMOVED FOR
OVERHAUL.
(7) Remove the eight 9/16 inch mounting nuts.
(a) If the propeller is removed between overhaul
intervals, mounting studs, nuts and washers may be
reused if they are not damaged or corroded.
CAUTION:
REMOVE THE PROPELLER FROM THE
ENGINE MOUNTING FLANGE WITH
CARE TO PREVENT DAMAGING THE
PROPELLER MOUNTING STUDS.
(8) Using the support sling, remove the propeller from the
mounting flange.
(9) Put the propeller on a cart for transport.
D. Removal of “L” Flange Propellers, Except Model HC-E2YL-( )
(1) Remove the spinner dome in accordance with the
Spinner Removal procedures in this chapter.
(2) If the propeller is equipped with an ice protection system
that uses components supplied by Hartzell
Propeller Inc., applicable instructions and technical
information can be found in Hartzell Propeller Inc. Ice
Protection System Manual 180 (30-61-80).
(3) Propeller ice protection system components not
supplied by Hartzell Propeller Inc. are controlled by the
applicable TC or STC holder’s Instructions for Continued
Airworthiness (ICA).
(4) If installed, cut and remove the safety wire or safety
cable on the propeller mounting stud nuts.
