5.10.3 Replacing the Cabinet Controller Board
The Cabinet Controller board at the top of the PA Cabinet has several switch settings
which should most likely be set the same as the board being replaced. Table 5-2, Table
5-3, and Table 5-4 are provided here for quick reference for all of the switch settings of
S1, S3 and S6. There is also a +5.00V reference which should be checked at TP50 and
set if necessary using R97. See Figure 5-14 on page 5-39 for component locations.
NOTE:
Switch S2 on the Cabinet Controller board is not used. Set to “1” for all Cabinets.
5.10.3.1 EEPROM U22
It is also necessary to remove the EEPROM U22 from the bad Cabinet Controller board
and install it on the replacement board. Provided that the EEPROM is still good, this
will transfer all phase, gain and calibration information to the new board and no user
adjustment will be required beyond those mentioned in the previous paragraph. If the
EEPROM U22 must be replaced with a new on, then the following will have to be done:
•
Module and Cabinet Phasing
•
Cabinet Forward power, Reflected power and Drive power calibrations.
5.10.3.2 Interlock Configuration and Jumper JP17
It is very important to check for JP17 on the board being replaced to determine if it has
been removed. However, JP17 was not present on older Cabinet Controller Boards, it
was just a trace on the board. The following scenarios can be used to determine if JP17
should be installed or removed.
1.
For PA Cabinet #1 JP17 should always be installed. The last 3 scenarios are
for PA Cabinets 2-5.
2.
If all cabinets are supposed to respond to a common external interlock sig-
nal then JP17 should be left installed on all Cabinet Controllers.
3.
If each cabinet is supposed to respond to a separate external interlock sig-
nal and the common system external interlock JP17 should be installed on
all Cabinet Controllers along with the appropriate sections of S6.
4.
If each cabinet is supposed to respond ONLY to a separate external inter-
lock signal then JP17 should be installed on PA Cabinet 1 and removed on
PA Cabinets 2-5. PA Cabinets 2-5 should then have one section of S6
(switches 6-10) set to ON.
