Chapter 3: Spectrum firmware upgrades
Verifying software release versions
After a Spectrum software and firmware upgrade is complete and prior to commencing system operation,
verify the software and firmware release versions in SystemManager match those described in the
release notes.
1. Under the
Help
tab, verify that the SystemManager version matches the version that is shown in the
Compatibility section of the Release Notes.
2. Under the
Home
tab, verify that the
Firmware Selection
matches the Firmware Build shown on the
title page of the Release Notes (ignore any digits after the build date).
3. Under the
Home
tab, click the Upgrade Firmware page and verify that the current firmware listed for
all MediaDirectors and MediaPorts have the same build date as the Firmware Build shown on the title
page of the Release Notes (ignore any digits after the build date).
Upgrading Spectrum video server firmware
You may upgrade the Spectrum video server firmware from the
Properties
page or from the
Upgrade
Firmware
page in SystemManager.
Before you begin
Before upgrading to the latest version of firmware, check with your automation, archival, and third party
software vendors for compatibility information.
CAUTION:
You cannot have MediaDirectors with different versions on the same file
system; to ensure file system integrity, upgrade all MediaDirectors at the same time.
Upgrading the Spectrum video server firmware from the Properties page
The
Properties
page allows you to upgrade the selected Spectrum video server only.
Before you begin
• Ensure that no recording or playback is taking place.
• Ensure that all Players are stopped.
• Ensure that no file copies or transfers are in progress, internally or on any Ethernet port.
• Ensure that the most recent release of SystemManager application software has been installed. Refer
to
Verifying software release versions
on page 90
for instructions.
1. With the SystemManager software properly installed, log on to the SystemManager application.
2. Click the
Home
tab, and in the left hand column, click the
Firmware Selection
icon to display the
Firmware Selection
page, as shown in the following figure.
3. Click the radio button for the desired version of firmware. When the
Confirm
dialog appears, click
OK
.
NOTE:
This selection chooses the
directory
from which firmware upgrade files will be
selected. The selection does not perform the upgrade.
4. Click the
Configuration
tab.
5. From the
System Diagram
page, click the icon for the unit you want to upgrade.
