Connecting AC power
DANGER:
When connecting a MediaStore 5100 or 5000 series, use only the power
cords supplied, or cords that match the specification in MediaStore 5100 and 5000
series Specifications.
2. For MediaCenter 2200B systems with the MediaStore 7200, connect power cables to the MediaStore
7200. Do not plug the cords into power sources yet.
The MediaStore 7200 has two power buttons on the front panel. To take advantage of the redundant
power supplies, ensure that separate, isolated power sources are available for each PSU.
3. Connect AC power cords to the two AC connectors on the MediaDirector 2252B, 2252B-DS or 2251B,
the MediaCenter 2200B, or the Spectrum X. To take full advantage of the dual redundant power
supplies, ensure that separate, isolated power sources are available.
• If desired, Spectrum video servers with dual redundant power can operate with only one power
supply connected; either one can be used.
4. If using an automation system, connect AC to the automation system’s AC connector. Make sure the
automation system’s power switch is off.
5. MediaPorts do not have power switches. Connect an AC power cord to each AC connector on the
MediaPort. Do not plug the AC cords into an AC power source yet. To take full advantage of the dual
redundant power supplies available onMediaPorts, Harmonic recommends that you use separate,
isolated power sources for each AC input.
• Since MediaPorts do not have power switches, Harmonic recommends you use breakers or
switched power strips instead.
• If desired, MediaPorts with dual redundant power supplies can operate with only one power supply
connected; either one can be used.
6. Make sure the SystemManager platform or customer-supplied PC’s power switch is off, and that the
SystemManager Keyboard/Monitor Tray’s power switch is off. Connect AC to the SystemManager’s
AC connector and plug in the SystemManager Keyboard/Monitor Tray’s universal power supply.
Installing the power cord retention strap
Harmonic recommends that you install the supplied power cord retention straps to help keep the power
cords connected to your Spectrum device.
1. Locate the Harmonic-supplied power cord retention strap. This may be labeled "PSU Power Cable
Clamp Kit."
2. Insert the locking tab end of the retention strap into either the air vent or receiver hole depending on
your Spectrum device:
3. For the MediaDirector 2252B, 2252B-DS, or 2251B, the MediaCenter 2200B, or the Spectrum X, use
the retention strap receiver hole located beneath the power cord receptacle on the back end of the
power supply module, as shown below.
