Replacing the chassis
The SAS cables, disk drives, and I/O modules must be removed from the original MediaStore and
installed in the replacement MediaStore in the same corresponding positions. As such, Harmonic
recommends that you label each component as you remove it from the chassis.
IMPORTANT:
When replacing a MediaStore, the entire Spectrum system must be shut down. Please read
each of the following sections and perform their steps in the order given.
CAUTION:
Observe all conventional ESD precautions when handling MediaStore components.
1. Power down the Spectrum system.
Refer to "Powering down a Spectrum System" in the
Spectrum System Installation Guide
for complete
instructions.
2. Label the SAS cables and remove them.
3. Note the drive bay assignments of the drives, and then remove them from the original chassis.
4. Remove the original chassis from the rack.
5. If you are replacing a MediaStore 5000 series unit, note the slot assignments of the I/O modules, and
then remove them from the original chassis and install them in the replacement chassis in the same
corresponding slots.
6. If you are replacing a MediaStore 7200, note the slot assignments of the expander modules, and then
remove them from the original chassis and then install them in the replacement chassis in the same
corresponding slots.
