TROUBLE
PROBABLE CAUSE
REMEDY
System slow to change
or reach requested
speed.
1.
The Setpoint low
(SPL) and Setpoint
high (SPH) are set
too broad.
2.
The REC setting may
be too small.
1.
Bracket the typical run
rate with the SPL and
SPH.
2.
This gives control in the
normal run range and
allows a fast change
during startup and
abnormal flow rates.
1.
A larger REC setting
allows a larger correc-
tion in motor speed. this
also reduces control
during refill and rate
expectation. Finding
the balance is a matter
of trial and error:
a.
If the typical range is 25
to 30/min and that cor-
relates to an output
percentage of 35 to
50%. This would be a
variation of 15%.
b.
The REC level should
be set to 1.5. This
allows an OP% change
allowance of the 15%
within the acceptable
gravimetric feed range.
c.
Changes that require
more than 15% motor
out speed change
within one timebase will
be subjected to being
locked in REC and not
change.
d.
The registers will need
to be reset and filled
with the new rate infor-
mation. This can be
done by pressing the
Enter button, or have a
large REC value, or
slower changes.
