Using the wheelchair
Negotiating obstacles: kerbstones
Figure 18
When negotiating kerbstones or similar, swing
up the anti-tip stabiliser. Then place a foot on
the tipping bar while you simultaneously push
with the pushing handles.
Steep ground
If you frequently use the wheelchair on hilly
surfaces, we recommend that a separate
assistant brake be installed.
CAUTION: Before lifting the chair and user, ensure that the
leg supports are properly connected to the frame and the
handle/latch is engaged (see page 7: Swinging out/fitting/
removing the leg supports). Also ensure that the handle/
latch is not disengaged by your hand while lifting. If the
Exigo is configured with optional adjustable height push
handles please ensure that the locking handles have been
properly tightened (see page 6: Height adjustable pushing
handles). Failure to follow these instructions could result in
the accidental release of a lifting point from the chair and a
potential injury for the user or assistant.
In order for the assistants to have a better
lifting position, they may lift one on each
side of the chair.
