Preparations
1
Make sure there is adequate ventilation when charging batteries
2
Do not charge batteries in boats or aircraft, or in enclosed areas
3
If the battery has to be removed from the vehicle to be charged, or if the battery terminals
need to be cleaned, always disconnect the earthed battery terminal first To prevent sparks or
arcing, check that all electrical equipment in the vehicle is switched off
4
Clean the battery terminals Make sure not to get any corrosive material in your eyes
5
Fill each cell with distilled water up to the electrolyte level specified by the battery
manufacturer This helps to ventilate gas from the cells Do not overfill For maintenance-free
batteries without cell covers, carefully follow the battery manufacturer’s charging instructions
6
Follow all the instructions from the battery manufacturer (such as whether the cell covers are
to be removed during charging and the recommended charging current)
7
Check the battery voltage in the instructions for the vehicle The appliance is only intended for
charging 12 V batteries
Positioning when charging
• Place the charger as far away from the battery as the charging cables permit
• Never place the charger directly above the battery that is being charged – corrosive gas from the
battery can damage the charger Never allow battery acid to drip onto the charger when filling
with liquid or checking the density
• Never use the appliance in an enclosed area without adequate ventilation
• Batteries for marine use must be taken out and charged on land
• Never place batteries on top of the charger
