Shaker
A dedicated shaker properly mixes the blood in the RBC bag with the added
solutions. The shaker connects to the rear panel of the device through a hard-
wired cable with a 15-pin subminiature “D” connector (see
). The function of each pin is defined in
Figure 8, Pin out for shaker cable (end view)
The device provides power to the shaker and controls the shaker’s operations.
The shaker has a platform to firmly hold the RBC bag in place using magnets.
The shaker operates at a frequency of 3 Hz and 1.5 inch amplitude
displacement, (peak-to-peak).
