The hot plates are covered in a protective layer that will have to be removed before using the appliance. To do this,
set the temperature control to its maximum position for about 5 minutes
. It is important to keep the room well
ventilated when doing this, as the protective layer may begin to smoke as it heats up. This smoke is only given off this
once and is due to the protective wax coating, it will not happen again. When five minutes have elapsed, switch off
the electric hob, unplug it and leave it to cool. Wipe the hot plates clean with a damp cloth. The appliance is now
