3. Configuring a Hot Spare Disk
After RAID is configured, hot spare disks are usually configured to improve data security. You can
configure a global hot spare disk or a dedicated hot spare disk as required.
Note
•
Hot spares are used only for redundant RAID levels.
•
The capacity of the hot spare must be larger than the capacity of a single member disk of the
RAID contributed to that RAID.
•
Only disks in Unconfigured Good configuration mode can work as hot spare disks.
