*The enabling status of this connector varies by the number of storage controllers attached to the drive 
backplane: 

 

If one controller is attached, the connector is disabled. 

 

If two controllers are attached, the connector is enabled. Its attached controller manages all the 
SAS/SATA drives on the backplanes connected through the downstream connectors.  

 

**: SAS/SATA drives that can be managed by the storage controller attached to the connector vary by 
the total number of storage controllers attached to the drive backplane: 

 

If one controller is attached, the controller attached to the connector can manage all SAS/SATA 
drives on the backplane and the backplanes connected through the downstream connectors. 

 

If two controllers are attached, the controller attached to the connector can manage only the 
SAS/SATA drives on the backplane. 

 

The required Exp module firmware varies by the number of storage controllers attached to the 
backplane: 

 

If one controller is attached, use the single version firmware. 

 

If two controllers are attached, use the dual version firmware. 

 

Rear 12LFF SAS/SATA drive backplane 

The PCA-BP-12LFF-R4300G5 12LFF SAS/SATA drive backplane can be installed at the server rear 
to support 12 × 3.5-inch SAS/SATA drives.
