2.2
Installing the switch in a rack
An H3C SL-1U-SCABBARD 1U chassis extension rail kit comes with eight M4 screws, four M6
screws, and four cage nuts.
To attach the four-hole front mounting brackets to the rack, four M6 screws and four cage nuts are
required. Purchase them yourself.
The guide rail installation procedure is slightly different depending on the rack model. The following
procedure is for your reference only.
To install the switch in the rack:
1.
Determine the switch installation position on the rack and install cage nuts on the rack posts
accordingly.
Install two cage nuts at a distance of 1 U between them on each rack post as shown by callout
1 in
. Make sure the corresponding cage nuts on the left and right rack posts are at the
same height.
2.
Attach the guide rails to the rear rack posts.
a.
Holding the guide rail, align the installation holes in the guide rail with the cage nuts on the
rear rack posts.
b.
Use four M6 screws to secure the guide rail to the rear rack posts as shown by callout 2 in
c.
Use the same method to attach the other guide rail to the rear rack post.
3.
Mount the switch in the rack.
a.
One person holds the switch by its bottom, aligns the slide rails on the chassis with the
guide rails on the rear rack posts, and then pushes the switch so that the slide rails slide
stably into the guide rails as shown by callout 1 in
. Make sure the front mounting
brackets on the chassis are flush against the front rack posts.
b.
The other person aligns the installation hole in the front mounting brackets with the cage
nuts on the front rack posts and uses four M6 screws to secure the switch to the rack. See
