10.1 Maintenance
Before starting any operation, read carefully all the
documentation and manuals delivered together with the
fire pump set.

The fire pump set can start up automatically at any
time. During your presence in the technical room, keep
your distance from the pumping system.

Do not wear loose or frayed clothing, long hair or
jewellery that could catch on equipment or become
trapped in the equipment.

Do not place fingers, hands, arms, tools, etc. into any
opening.

The fire pump set, can start up automatically at any
time. Before any inspection, maintenance, service or
repair of the product, make sure that the mains switch
is in OFF position, locked and tagged. Attach suitable
isolation warning signs to prevent inadvertent
reconnection.

Additionally, in case of diesel-driven pumps, isolate the
fuel supply to the engine and disconnect the batteries
by removal of the negative terminal connector.

Typically, there are more than one control panels,
make sure that you disconnect the correct panel with
respect to the section of the system on which you
have to intervene.

Make sure to gradually decrease the pressure and
empty the piping before operation.
Under no circumstances should the fire pump set be
operated, when the coupling guard is not in place and
suitably secured.
Avoid to make inspection, maintenance, service or repair
of the product while the motor or the engine is in
operation. If this is not possible, make sure that all
protections for rotating parts and hot parts are in place
and secured.

Any kind of maintenance on the fire pump set must be
operated by qualified and authorized personnel.

The electrical installation must be carried out by a
qualified electrician appointed by the client in
accordance with local regulations.
Maintenance operated by unqualified personnel can
cause serious damage to the fire pump set or even to the
system.
Incorrect use can cause serious damage to the fire pump

10.2 Verifications and checks

The fire pump set can start up automatically at any
time. Before working on the coupling, make sure that
the mains switch is in OFF position, locked and
tagged. Attach suitable isolation warning signs to
prevent inadvertent reconnection.

In case of diesel-driven pumps, isolate the fuel supply
to the engine and disconnect the batteries by
removing the negative terminal connector, before
working on any part of the fuel supply or control
system.
As required by the EN 12845 standard, the periodic verification of
the pump set's performance must be carried out by the installer of
the firefighting system or by qualified persons. The activities
performed must be documented in a dedicated register kept in the
building.
Under no circumstances should the fire pump set be
operated, when the coupling guard is not in place and
suitably secured.
This operation must be carried out by a qualified
personnel.
For electric-driven pumps, check regularly the alignment
of the spacer coupling based on the operation time.
For diesel-driven pumps, check periodically
the tightness of all screws.
Before closing the coupling guard after the alignment,
check that all screws are correctly tightened.
10.2.1 Duty electric pump
Check the alignment regularly based on the operation
time of the pump set.
For more information about the maintenance of electric
pumps, refer to the specific documentation provided with
the pump set.
For electric pumps, the check and replacement of wear parts
is done in compliance with generally accepted good workmanship
practices.
