— If the pulleys are aligned, go to
Step 8.
— If the pulleys are NOT aligned, perform
Steps 4–8.
4. Loosen the motor mount fasteners shown in
Figure 58.

5. Shift the motor horizontally as needed to align
the motor pulley with the cutterhead pulley.
6. Tighten the motor mount fasteners. The
V-belt should be parallel and aligned as
shown in
Figure 57.
7. Re-install the fence assembly, rear access
panel, and V-belt guard.
Pulley Alignment
Pulley alignment is another important factor in
power transmission and belt life. The pulleys
should be parallel to each other and in the same
plane (coplaner) for optimum performance.
Each pulley can be adjusted by loosening the
motor mount fasteners, sliding the motor in or out,
and retightening the fasteners to lock the motor
pulley in place.

To align the pulleys:
1. DISCONNECT JOINTER FROM POWER!
2. Remove the rear access cover, V-belt guard
and the fence assembly.
3. Place a straightedge against both pulleys
(see
Figure 56) and check to make sure that
they are aligned and that the V-belt is straight
up and down (see
Figure 57).
