Failsafe / digital trimming
Failsafe
In the receiver’s condition as supplied, the servos mainta-
in their last validly detected position (‘hold’) in the event of
a failsafe situation. In the event of a failsafe condition, the
receiver’s green LED goes out and the transmitter’s green
status LED begins to flash slowly. The transmitter also
beeps twice in rapid succession every two seconds as an
audible warning.
Ensure that you make use of the safety potential offered
by this feature by at least programming the following for a
failsafe incident: for glow-powered models, set the motor
throttle position to idle; for electric models, set the motor
function to stop, or to hold for helicopter models. If the
event of a fault, the model is then less likely to fly off on
its own and cause damage to property or even personal
injury.
Programming procedure
Power on the transmitter and receiver system.
Enter programming mode on the transmitter:
The joysticks can be pressed downward to trigger internal
switches.
• Press both joysticks for about 2 seconds. The trans-
mitter status LED flashes red about once a second
and a low beep is heard. The transmitter is now in
programming mode.
• Press only the right joystick for about 1 second. The
red status LED now flashes twice every second and
two low beeps are heard. The transmitter is now in the
failsafe setting.
• Bring one or both of the joysticks into the desired
failsafe position, e.g. channel 1 to motor stop.
• Press the corresponding trim lever for the channel
upward (or to the left), and the position is now stored
as a failsafe position. The green status LED flashes
twice in acknowledgment. The red LED flashes again
after about 5 seconds, and you can program additio-
nal channels as required.
Alternatively
• Press the corresponding trim lever for the channel
downward (or to the right), and the channel is now
stored as ‘hold’. The green status LED flashes once
in acknowledgment. The red LED flashes again after
about 5 seconds, and you can program additional
channels as required.
• Once you have programmed all channels as desired,
press the right joystick again for about 1 second in
order to store the failsafe settings.
• The transmitter status LED flashes red about once a
second and a low beep is heard. The transmitter now
returns to programming mode.
• Afterwards press both joysticks again for about 1 se-
cond. The transmitter status LED changes to green
and a beep is heard.
• The transmitter is now again ready to operate.
Note:
In failsafe programming mode,
all channels that are
to take a failsafe position must always be programmed
at the same time, as at the end only the current position
is stored. Any previous failsafe positions are
always
overwritten with the current joystick position. For channels
with hold, in contrast, this is not necessary.
Digital trimming
Description of function
Digital trim with audible indicator
Both joysticks are equipped for digital trimming. Briefly
pressing the trim lever changes the neutral position of the
joystick by a certain amount with each click. Holding the
stick longer will cause trimming to run in the correspon-
ding direction at increasing speed.
These changes can be made audible through beeps diffe-
rent frequencies. This makes it easy to find the mid-point
during flight without looking at the transmitter. When the
mid-point is overrun, a brief pause ensues.
Current trim values are automatically stored.
Digital trimming works only with the transmitter swit-
ched on. If, on the other hand, the transmitter is off,
inadvertently touching the trim lever does not change the
settings.
